HEC and provincial higher-education department lists are the source of truth.

Pakistan’s public university map is uneven. Punjab and Sindh hold the oldest campuses. KP expanded quickly after 2010. Balochistan, AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan have fewer degree-awarding institutions relative to distance. A useful atlas does not invent campus counts; it copies the latest Higher Education Commission recognised list and then adds public degree colleges run by each province.

  • Punjab: University of the Punjab, UET Lahore, Agriculture University Faisalabad, BZU Multan, IUB Bahawalpur.
  • Sindh: University of Karachi, NED, IBA Karachi, University of Sindh Jamshoro, Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences.
  • KP: University of Peshawar, UET Peshawar, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Gomal University, University of Swat.
  • Balochistan: University of Balochistan, BUITEMS Quetta, Lasbela University.

What a district education entry covers

  1. Public university campus or sub-campus, if any.
  2. Government postgraduate and degree colleges (men / women).
  3. Cadet college or medical college if present.
  4. Literacy rate from the latest PBS table, with the year written beside it.
